The Schonbrunn Zoo, the Tiergarten Scönbrunn is the world’s oldest, and the only operating Baroque Zoo, established during the reign of Maria Theresia, receiving is first guests in the sommer of 1752. Today, the zoo includes an aquarium and a terrarium, a rainforest house, a desert house, the small but most unique mexico house and a polarium. The former emperor’s pavilion still stands in the centre of the zoo, now hosting a popular restaurant and cafeteria, while an old country home serves as an inn on the hillside.
