Ottakring U3 metro station - Vienna

Line U3 of the Vienna Metro transports passangers between Ottakring and Simmering, going across downtown from east to west, starting a bit from the north, and turning south at the end. Construction work on the line started in 1983, the first section was completed in 1991, and today’s full length was completed in 2002. It runs underground most of the time, except for the Ottakring and the Erdberg stations. The length of the line is 8.4 miles, travel time is 25 minutes, and there are 19 stations in between: Kendlerstraße, Hütteldorfer Straße, Johnstraße, Westbahnhof, Zieglergasse, Neubaugasse, Volkstheater, Herrengasse, Stephansplatz, Stubentor, Landstraße, Rochusgasse, Kardinal-Nagl-Platz, Schlachthausgasse, Erdberg, Gasometer, Zippererstraße, Enkplatz.
Ottakring is the north-eastern end stop of the Viennese U3 metro line, the orange line, crossing the inner city from east to west. The Ottacher’s village station was opened in 1998, it is named after the capital’s 16th district. Surrounding lands were owned by Count Ottacher back in the 12th century.
