Naschmarkt – Vienna
The Naschmarkt, the snack market is a favorite place of gourmets, as well as one of the most visited sites of the Austrian capital. The colorful marketplace is located in downtown Vienna, near the Opera house, surrounded by Otto Wagner’s turn-of-the-century buildings along the Wien River. This area included a grocer market as early as the 18th century, then called Aschenmarkt, ash-market. Today’s name was given in 1905. The market includes close to 200 stands, shops, catering units and famer counters. There is a flea market south of the Naschmarkt.
The market is open every day except for Monday, and can be accessed through two metro stops: Karlsplatz és Kettenbrückengasse.
